Classically trained in the UK, Hakeem started his career at the Royal Shakespeare company in productions such as Anthony Shers Merchant of Venice he then went on to sharing the stage with acclaimed actors like Brian Cox in ‘King Lear’ and Sir Ian McKellan in “Richard III” for the Royal National Theatre. He then made a successful transition to British television with leading roles appearing in Helen Mirren’s ‘Prime Suspect’ amongst others. Hakeem then settled in South Africa where his work in film and television gave him a huge following and made him a household name. It was while in South Africa that Hakeem gained international attention for his role in the Oscar nominated, critically acclaimed “Hotel Rwanda” with Don Cheadle.
Hakeem now lives in LA and has shared his talent with millions of viewers on shows such as Criminal Minds, NCIS LA “ Law & Order: SVU” amongst others. Hakeem is often recognized for his recurring role as Dubaku on “24’s” Season 7, and in the pre-quel movie “Redemption”.
Hakeem has kept his link with the continent however producing and starring in films in Nigeria, ‘Nollywood’ the worlds 3rd largest film industry in the hope of helping to create a world class industry in the country.
Some of his other films include “Pirates of the Caribbean III” with Johnny Depp , Wolverine alongside Hugh Jackman ,The 4th Kind with Mila Jovovitch and most recently Black November which he also produced and stars Mickey Rourke and Kimbassinger.
Hakeem is currently shooting the new Michael Bay TV Series in South Africa for Starz ‘Black Sail’ as series regular Mr Scott.
