Actress Dee Dee Stephens is a first generation American, born to Caribbean parents and raised in San Jose, California.
Dee Dee moved to Los Angeles because she got accepted to the masters in acting program at the University of Southern California. In 3 years, she went from having no formal actor training to having leading roles in 2 of the 3 repertory plays.
Since graduation, Dee Dee finished her first feature film, My Name is Myeisha, which won Audience Choice Award at the 2018 Slamdance Film Festival. She continues her work on several projects both on stage and in front of the camera, always choosing to use her voice as an actor to speak up for her community.
When it comes to her work, her favorite quote comes from Paul Robeson:
“The artist must elect to fight for freedom or slavery. I have made my choice.”
